Cecilia Madden is Head of the Music Department at Ardscoil Mhuire and Coordinator of the Ardscoil Mhuire Music Academy.  A native of Limerick, Cecilia studied Piano, Oboe and Recorder while at school, before going on to graduate from Trinity College Dublin, where she read Music and History for both the degrees of B.A. (hons) and M. Phil. (hons). She also studied Oboe at the DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama. 

While at Trinity, Cecilia sang as a Choral Scholar and subsequently conducted both the Trinity Chapel Choir and the Trinity University Orchestra. She has directed several choirs in Dublin and Limerick. In 2004-2005, Cecilia spent a year in Berlin where she was a guest student at the Hochschule für Musik studying Choral Direction. Cecilia participated in several conducting masterclasses around the world including those at Westminster Choir College, Princeton (USA), Varese (Italy) and at the European Academy for Young Choral Conductors at Timmendorf (Germany) before returning home to Limerick in order to pursue her career as music teacher and performer. She was awarded a first-class honours Graduate Diploma in Education (Music) at the University of Limerick and commenced her career as a secondary school music teacher in 2006.

Cecilia has been teaching Music and History at Ardscoil Mhuire since 2007, and is also Musical Director of the annual Transition Year School Musical and of Ardscoil Mhuire School Choir. Cecilia founded and continues to direct Ancór an award-winning Limerick chamber choir, who are resident at Ardscoil Mhuire.
