Nora O' Connor

Teaches Violin, Voice, Piano & Music Theory

September 2014 will see Nora commencing her second year at the Ardscoil Mhuire Music Academy where she teaches Violin, Voice and Piano. Nora holds a B.A. (Hons) Degree in Music and Drama from the University of Ulster and has also recently qualified from the Irish World Academy of Music in the University of Limerick with a Professional Diploma in Education (Music). Nora teaches Music at Ardscoil Mhuire as well as in the Academy and has a wide variety of experience in music both in Limerick and further afield. She is an accomplished performer and during her younger years studied under expert tuition in the Limerick School of Music with Moira Grey on Piano and Eileen Hudson on Violin. Nora has also studied Voice under the former Head of the Conservatory of Music in D.I.T. in Dublin, Anne-Marie O’ Sullivan and also studied with Marie Walsh in Limerick.

Nora is a classically-trained musician and soprano, but has adapted her style and disciplines during the years, most notably in Musical Theatre. Nora is an accomplished performer and has been involved in a wide variety of orchestras, choirs, chamber choirs, early music groups and musical societies. Nora is a former member of the award-winning chamber choir New Dublin Voices based in Dublin and now is a member of the acclaimed chamber choir Ancór based in Limerick.

Nora also worked for Sony Music Record label in Dublin for some years before her move back to Limerick to concentrate on teaching. Working with varied artists in her career, Nora has knowledge of both the music and business side of the music industry and is flexible in working with different styles of music to suit her students' strengths. Nora looks forward to welcoming back her current students and to working with her new students this year.
