Calendar & Regulations

1. Lessons for 2014-2015 will commence on the week of Monday 8 September

    

2. Holidays coincide with Post-Primary Schools:
   Midterm Break: Mon 27 Oct- Fri 31 Oct 2014 inclusive
   Christmas Holidays: Mon 22 Dec 2014 – Fri 2 Jan 2015 incl.
   Midterm Break: Mon 16 Feb- Fri 20 Feb 2015 incl.
   St Patrick’s Day: Tues 17 March 2015
   Easter Holidays: Mon 30 March – Fri 10 April 2015 incl.
   May Bank Holiday: Mon 4 May 2015
   Summer Holidays from after Fri 29 May 2015

    

3. Where a lesson occurs on a bank holiday an alternative day and time will be offered.

    

4. In the unusual event that the teacher has to cancel a lesson at the usual time an alternative lesson will be provided at a time and date agreeable to both teacher and student.

    

5. It is the student’s obligation to attend the lesson at the given time. If unable to attend the lesson please notify the relevant teacher as soon as possible. Please note that, in this case, there is no obligation on the teacher to provide an alternative lesson due to timetabling restrictions.

    

6. If a student is using an instrument belonging to the Ardscoil Mhuire Music Academy he/she must take good care of it and return it when appropriate in the same condition as it was when given.

    

EXAMINATIONS

If a student is entering a grade exam (usually Royal Irish Academy of Music or the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) please take note of the deadline and pay the exam fee to the office promptly. Without furnishing a medical certificate to explain an absence these fees are non-refundable. Deadlines for this coming year are as follows:

To apply for a place at the Ardscoil Mhuire Music Academy use the application form which you can download here.

Please print, complete and forward to the Ardscoil Mhuire office (Ardscoil Mhuire Music Academy, Corbally, Limerick) with €50 deposit.

ANNUAL FEES

Individual half-hour lesson - €500

Shared half-hour lesson (max. 3 in a group) - €300

Please ensure €50 deposit is paid before the first lesson in order to secure your entry.

The €50 deposit will be deducted from the annual / term fees.

Courses Offered

We offer tuition in the following areas: Keyboard, Strings, Woodwind, Brass, Percussion, Singing, Music Theory. Students are prepared for grade examinations when appropriate, e.g. the Royal Irish Academy of Music or the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music.

What do we do?

The Ardscoil Mhuire Music Academy offers high quality music tuition to all. Our mission is to make music education accessible to all members of our community: both students of Ardscoil Mhuire and members of the wider public too.

History

The Ardscoil Mhuire Music Academy was founded with the support of the Oscailt scheme in 2009, with the aim of making music education accessible to all.  Since its inception, the Music Academy has grown and continues to offer music tuition at a subsidised rate to both students of Ardscoil Mhuire and members of the wider community, male and female, and of all ages. Lessons take place between 3.30 - 9.00 p.m. every day.

There is a bank of instruments available to students* who wish to start without the expense of buying an instrument at the beginning of their studies.

Students can opt for group lessons when appropriate.
